Dinner on Wednesday night!

Hi!

Wanted to fill in dinner details, as we've got some pictures of it to share with the hungry! Found a highly recommended restaurant called Tamam -- recommended everywhere from Blue Guide to Rough Guide to 10 Things to do in Crete. It is located in an old Turkish hamman (bath house) fairly close to our hotel. As we hadn't had lunch, we went looking for dinner fairly early -- somewhere around 7 p.m. Found a terrific end table outside (the forever conscious of smoke people that we are!) and settled down for dinner.

The first thing that came out was some terrific bread with butter with chives, peppers and garlic mixed in -- YUM! Also several different types of olives, which R quickly disposed of! Then, for starters, I ordered roasted peppers with a garlic-yoghurt dressing; R had feta with peppers. For mains, R had chicken souvlaki, and I went with a vegetarian dish of roasted eggplant with tomato and feta. This turned out to be more like a lasagna, actually, with the eggplant taking the place of the pasta. It was AMAZING! The complimentary dessert of the evening was an excellent coconut confection, again, served with a pitcher of Raki. All in all, at one of the highest recommended places on the island, the bill was something like 39 Euros, and that's including sparking water and a large carafe of excellent Cretan white wine! May go back there tonight or tomorrow night!!

So -- will do today's post a bit later, but wanted to catch up on the food front!

Take care; much love!
